She began writing in 2010 as a sports and community events reporter for The Belvidere Republican Newspaper in Northwest Illinois. Since then, Laura has explored seven states, worked as a Copy Editor for the Roanoke Times Newspaper in Southwest Virginia, and recently earned her master’s degree in creative writing at Liberty University with distinction. She hosts a monthly writer’s support group called SWAG (Serious Writers & Authors Group). Her greatest desire is to build a remarkable writer’s community in Ocean Springs, one which compliments the amazing artist fellowship already thriving here in the City of Discovery. Learn beginner-friendly techniques, build confidence, & debut your creation in a live interactive fashion showcase.
Create the fantasy ball outfit you've always dreamed of wearing. Have you admired the beautiful gowns, faery fashions, and fantasy costumes at events like the Faery Court Ball, Witch's Tea, ACOTAR celebrations, renaissance festivals, and fantasy gatherings, but thought: "I wish I could make and wear something like that." Now you can.
Alchemy of Cloth is a hands-on maker workshop where participants transform thrifted clothing, reclaimed textiles, and vintage treasures into one-of-a-kind fantasy ball attire. Whether you envision yourself as a Faery Queen, Elven Noble, Forest Witch, Dragon Rider, Pirate, Courtier, or a magical character of your own creation, you'll receive guidance and support to bring your vision to life. No advanced sewing experience is required. This workshop is designed for beginners and experienced makers alike.
