Ocean Springs Environmental Alliance to Present Free Lecture

The Ocean Springs Environmental Alliance (OSEA) invites you to become better informed by attending  a lecture featuring John Lipscomb, a Master Naturalist and an active “birder” from an early age. The lecture entitled, “What the Bluebirds Told Me,” will be held at the Mary C Cultural Center in Ocean Springs on Tuesday, February 10 at 6 p.m. for wine & cheese, 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. for the lecture and discussion.

John has been involved with outdoor activities and birding most of his life. His mother was a birder, so John learned by watching and listening to her. He has collected data on bluebirds for 18 years and shares info with the NestWatch program at Cornell University. He has been watching and feeding hummingbirds since he was a child. He wants you to know that he has no special credentials in this field nor no academic letters associated with his name. He is just like most of his fellow birders. He has a committed interest in the preservation of natural areas, providing information and helping others enjoy nature.

OSEA is “a group of citizens committed to the stewardship of our natural resources for the benefit of current and future generations.  Our goal is to work toward a sustainable community in harmony with our coastal environment.“ For more information, please visit the Ocean Springs Environmental Alliance Facebook page.

"Oh, the thinks you can think" when Dr. Seuss' best-loved characters collide and cavort in an unforgettable musical caper!  Horton the Elephant, the Cat in the Hat and all of your favorite Dr. Seuss characters spring to life onstage in Seussical JR., a fantastical musical extravaganza from Tony-winners, Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty.

Transporting audiences from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus, the Cat in the Hat narrates the story of Horton the Elephant, who discovers a speck of dust containing tiny people called the Whos. Horton must protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, and he must also guard an abandoned egg that's been left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird.  Although Horton faces ridicule, danger and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him.  Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant!

This family-friendly production features TWO cast of talented young performers

Ticket Prices:

  • Adults - $20

  • Students - $15

  • Military / Senior Citizens (over 65) - $18

Red Dirt Comedy Presents: William Lee Martin - Seemed Smart at the Time Tour

Meet William Lee Martin
For nearly 30 years, William Lee Martin has been making America laugh with his fast-paced, “PG…in 1985” brand of comedy—fun, a little edgy, but never filthy. His new tour, Red Dirt Comedy Presents: William Lee Martin – Seemed Smart at the Time, delivers another round of original, heartfelt storytelling that turns everyday life into side-splitting laughter.
A prolific writer, Martin refreshes his material every year, so no two tours are ever the same. The show kicks off the moment you enter, with a full audio-visual experience featuring music he’s written himself.
Seen in his hit specials, popular tours like The Funny Life and Nuttier Cracker, and his podcast The Red Dirt Comedy Show, Martin’s comedy is real, relatable, and full of heart. A proud family man and Texas cowboy at heart, he reminds us to laugh at life’s absurdities and enjoy the ride.
If you want a comedy show that’s as smart as it is hilarious—this is it!

Friday, March 13th - Doors: 6:30pm - Show: 7:30pm
