The Local Creatives were formed in 2017 by current Mary C. Arts and Culture Coordinator Sarah Qarqish, founder of HannaBerry Studio, in order to connect with other creative entrepreneurs.  Moving from Jackson, MS to the coast was isolating for Sarah Q. and she wanted to connect with the local community.

The Local Creatives are a group of creative entrepreneurs who are working artists selling and showing their work. There are currently 30 members. The Local Creatives Gallery was formed in 2018, curated quarterly by Sarah Q. This gallery presents opportunities to sell and showcase your work within the Mary C.

Summer of ‘56;

Elvis On the Coast

Join The Mary C in collaboration with The Gulf Coast Heritage Area, bringing you The Summer of ‘56; Elvis On the Coast! The three-month exhibition will feature immersive displays, a speaker series, and community-wide participation, celebrating this unforgettable chapter in music and local history!

In addition, participating restaurants along the Coast will feature Elvis-inspired food and beverages, offering guests a taste of the flavors and favorites that defined the era.

The “Elvis” undertaking is a partnership between the Mary C. O’Keefe Cultural Arts Center and the Mississippi Gulf Coast National Heritage Area. The exhibition draws on a wealth of recorded interviews, personal interviews, photographs, videos, and archival materials that document 1956, the watershed year for Presley.
